ABSTRACT
This study examined the role of mass media in the development of the health sector among students of Ekehuan campus of the University of Benin. The objective was to determine the role of the mass media in the development of the health sector among students of Ekehuan campus and in what way the mass media can help in improving the health sector. The Survey Method was adopted while questionnaire was used as the instrument of data collection. The simple sampling method was adopted. The researcher self- administered 97 copies of the questionnaire out of which all were returned and found useable. The findings showed that the students of Ekehuan campus are highly exposed to use of mass media. This exposure has sharpened their perception of mass media towards the development of their health sector. Based on this, the conclusion is that the mass media does play a role in the development of health sector among students of Ekehuan campus, using the university of Benin health center as a case study. Based on the findings of this study, it was recommended among others that the mass media should continue to play it role in the development of the health sector in Ekehuan campus by providing advanced medical services, using of mixed media approach for medical outreach and expansion of media messages to get people to develop positive attitude and interest towards the use of mass media in sharpening the health sector in Ekehuan campus.
