ABSTRACT

This study examined the relationship between reward programmesand employees’ job satisfaction in selected public firms in Edo State. Specifically, the research was carried out to determine if there is any significant relationship between pay, fringe benefits, recognition, promotion, job security and employees’ job satisfaction in selected firms in Benin City. Edo State; The survey method was adopted as the research design. Data were collected through the administration of questionnaire to selected respondents. Data analysis of the research questions was done using the frequency count, means and standard deviation while the hypotheses were tested using multivariate regression analysis. The findings in this study revealed that there was a significant relationship between pay, fringe benefits, recognition, promotion, job security and employees’ job satisfaction in selected firms in Benin City, Edo State. Based on the findings, it was recommended that management should ensure adequate and proportionate reward programmes in their organisations, for all levels of staff. By so doing, staff will be motivated, and this would result in enhanced productivity, which would lead to the overall achievement of the organization’s goals and objectives. Also, the management of the organizations should introduce reward programmesthat are very attractive.
