ABSTRACT

The study conducted an analysis of the Revenue Mobilization-Economic Growth Nexus in Nigeria using annual time series data from 1991 to 2021. Utilizing Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) tests, the study confirmed the variables were stationary at first difference. Johansen co-integration technique was employed to establish long-term co-integration among the variables, and Error Correction Model (ECM) corrected short-term disequilibrium. Data from Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), NBS, and World Development Indicators (WDI) were utilized. The findings revealed a positive and significant impact of oil revenue on GDP. However, non-oil revenue, real interest rate, and inflation rate had negative and insignificant impacts on GDP. The study suggests diversifying revenue sources to enhance economic growth, emphasizing the need for policies to optimize domestic and foreign investments, thereby boosting productivity and revenue mobilization in Nigeria.
