ABSTRACT
This study was carried out in the university of Benin city Edo State from October 2023 to late January 2024 evaluating various fertilizer treatments on maize..it was a factorial experiment carried out in a randomize complete block design (RCBD ) with three replicates. Two fertilizer treatments as plant height, leave area number of leaves dry matter weight and soil test results where obtained in 4 and 6 weeks of planting . The plant spacing was ( 75cm×25cm) and tThe experimental plot is located at latitude 6.402236 and 6° 24’08.1”N and latitude 5.623554 and 5°37`24.8”E. Each replication have 3 plot measuring 3m×3m and samples was randomly taken from the plot making total of 9 sample Samples were ground and sieved through a 2mm mesh and analysed for Total Nitrogen, Available Phosphorus and Exchangeable Potassium available magnesium, Sulphur organic carbon organic matter calcium, ph , exchangeable acidity in laboratory. Result from the experiment showed that since there had been continues cropping on the commercial farm the nutrient status was low as shown by results from the chemical analysis after harvest. Total N was very low in the control (0.618)plot than the rest plot which range from (1.010-1.115) as stated on the table below.
