ABSTRACT
Remediation is important in improving the agricultural output and reducing the risk of food poisoning and also improve the physiochemical properties of the contaminated soil, the aim of this study is to remediate cadmuim contaminated soil obtained from Evbareke spare parts market using calcuim oxide nanoparticles.
Calcuim oxide nanoparticles were synthesized using calcuim chloride and soduim hydroxide and polyvinyl alcohol which acts a stabilizer.
Different pipes were labelled A,B,C,D,E, were tied properly to avoid escape and 0,5g, 1.0g,1.5g,2.0g,2.5g, of calcuim oxide nano particles were weighed and was • filled with the soil sample up to 50g respectively,each pipe were place on a retort stand and was filled 100ml of distilled water,a needle was used to punture the nylon used in covering the pipes' and drop-wise flow of the liquid mixture was collected for atomic absorption spectrophotometer for further analysis
Calcuim oxide nanopafticles proved effective, in remediating the cadmuim contaminated soil and it was noticed that the higher the mass of calcuim oxide nanoparticle the less effective it was in remediating the contaminated soil.
