ABSTRACT
This study was aimed at assessing the relationship between school discipline and students academic achievement in public junior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. To achieve the purpose of the study, four research questions were raised and examined. The questionnaire was the instrument for data collection. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. An analysis of data was done using descriptive statistics which include frequency count and simple percentage.
The findings from the study include that self-discipline among students in public junior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State is encouraging. Findings also indicated that teachers do make rules at the beginning of school session. Consequently, it was also concluded that teacher’s qualification has a direct influence on the academic performance of students in English language in public junior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.
Some of the recommendations made include that there should be parent -teacher relations so as to control indiscipline among students in schools. It was also recommended that Religious groups and organizations should enlighten their followers on the importance of discipline and the danger or implication of indiscipline.
