ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to determine the relationship between parents occupation and student choice of career among secondary school student in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State. The research design used was descriptive survey research design using random sampling technique, a total of one hundred (100) senior secondary students were drawn from five thousand eight hundred and twenty-nine (5,829) students in Etsako West Local Government Area to form the population. The instrument used for the study consisted of questionnaires which were administered to the respondents. The data collected were subjected to statistical analyses which are descriptive statistic (Mean, and standard deviation). Findings revealed that parent occupation had a positive effect but significant relationship among career choices of students in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State based on the finding, it was recommended that parental and family pressure and the occupation determine the choice of student in secondary school. Social prestige and career choices is the paramount among the career choice and parents should encouraged the students both financially and other means for enable them actualized their choice of social prestige of career that, there should be a sound level educational awareness and efficiency to students in term of choice of career
