ABSTRACT
Education provides individuals with the requisite knowledge, abilities and attitudes for effective learning. The purpose of this study was to investigate Relationship between Class Size and Students Academic Performance in Public Junior Secondary Schools in Oredo Local Government area of Edo State. A survey research design was employed in this study. Five(5) research questions were raised to guide the study. The target population of the study four thousand eight hundred and six (4,806) junior school students in Oredo local government area of Edo State ,with sample of one hundred (100) students as respondents using the convenient sampling technique. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The questionnaire was validated by the researcher's supervisor and two other experts in the Department of Educational Management; while the test- re test reliability method was adopted to ascertain the reliability of the instrument. Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The findings from this study revealed that high enrollment, repeating a class, over population, and inadequate funding is a cause of large class, it was also observed that lack of instructional materials, low enrollment, under population, lack of trained teacher, and poor infrastructure is a cause of small class.
