ABSTRACT

It's no news that most fabric designs depicts, portrays, reflects or speaks a lot about the culture of the people that adores and appreciates them. In agreement, the researcher discovered that making a particular fabric design or decoration, also reflects the culture of the people that produces that particular design. The research entails a particular tieing and dyeing method of the Egbalawa culture of the Abeokuta's the capital of Ogun State, Nigeria. The focus of this research study is to aesthetically project a cultural identity of the Egbalawa people on a tie and dye fabric. The research is splited into five chapters which clearly explains the practical approach applied to the Adire (tie and dye) Kampala design method, with the Adaptation of Local Content and Concept For Redecoration of Chairs. In conclusion, this research is an approach to further sustain and propagate our culture with Art. Through this research, we would get more enlightments and reasons to value and appreciate our cultural heritages and identity and also, to let people know that there's more to benefit in valuing our local attire. And it brings respect and honour to the people from that particular culture.
