ABSTRACT

This study has sought to delve into the intricate role of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in the development of Mowe during the period from 1988 to 2020. The RCCG, as one of Nigeria's fastest-growing Pentecostal churches in the 21st century, epitomizes the dynamic transformation and influence of religious organizations in Nigeria. While the church upholds essential religious traditions such as fasting, praying, and speaking in tongues, it has also expanded its reach through fervent evangelism, spiritual gatherings, and social engagement. The RCCG's monthly and annual Holy Ghost programs at its international headquarters on the Mowe underscore its commitment to spiritual growth and community involvement. Religious organizations like the RCCG hold a central place in Nigerian society, influencing various aspects of life, including the socio-economic, political, moral, spiritual, psychological, and mental spheres. As a country where religion plays a pivotal role, Nigeria has seen the rapid expansion of Christianity, with over 45% of its population embracing the faith. The early history of Christian missions in Nigeria, particularly with the influence of the Church Missionary Society and other Christian leaders, underscores the profound impact of these organizations on the country's development.
