Cult activities have long been a subject of interest and concern due to their potential negative impact on individuals and society. However, over the past few years, there has been a noticeable decline in cult activities in University of Benin (UNIBEN), prompting the need for a comprehensive analysis of the underlying factors contributing to this decline. This study was therefore aimed at identifying the key reasons behind the decline in cult activities by examining various measures and strategies in combating cult activities in the institution. The descriptive research design was employed and a structured questionnaire was developed to elicit appropriate responses from the sampled population. The responses obtained were analysed using mean ratings. The results of the analysis revealed that increased security measures, increased awareness and sensitisation, strict disciplinary actions and collaborative efforts by various stakeholders are the main reasons behind the decline in cult activities in the institution. However, parents involvement in curbing such activities was found to be at a low ebb and it was therefore recommended, among others, that there is the need for parents to step up in their responsibility as a way of further reducing cult activities in University of Benin (UNIBEN), Benin city, Edo state, Nigeria.
