SUMMARY

Why the urge to arouse interest in Radio drama?

   Aren’t its limitations too obvious?

Is it truly a performance without the actors being visualized?

Like every other form of drama, radio drama is equally as important. Although, the actors are not seen physically, it doesn’t make it less of a performance and in all honesty, you do not have to see the performers to enjoy the performance.

This isn’t to disregard the advancement in technology where we are surrounded by visuals and screens, screens on our walls, desks, pockets, hands etc. screens are everywhere we look, they are within sight always. More than a lot of people would care to admit, sounds are more important than visuals. Sounds have a higher ability or chance to grab and keep the attention of audience/listeners considering its invisible feature. They cannot be easily ignored.

In as much as people would claim to prefer to behold things with their sight, they stick to audios when doing certain things such as driving, doing chores, reading, writing etc. while doing these things, their concentration/attention span is automatically narrowed down to listening alone. Whether it is music, podcast, news or sports broadcasts, audio books and even radio dramas. Listening is less demanding as it permits us to do other things while listening simultaneously.
