ABSTRACT
The kind of music that individuals are exposed to while growing up determines the values they adopt in life. This is because music is a powerful instrument that helps to create a direction for humans and then feeds that direction. This study investigated the radical ideology in the music of Burnaboy and the human psychology and how his music has influenced human ideology towards the government. To achieve this objective, this study adopted the content analysis method for the collection of data. To this end ,selected songs of Burnaboy were analyzed to the examine their influence on members of the society. Secondary data were derived, through review of relevant literature on the topic. Findings revealed that music is a powerful phenomenon that has existed for thousands of years and has been crucial in societal development. It was also revealed that music has a direct link to the human mind and can influence it positively as human respond to the sound and message of music. Against the backdrop, the study recommends that Afro beat musicians in Nigeria, should emulate the examples of artist like Burnaboy, Bob Marley, Negro spirituals, Fela Anikulapo Kuti in using music to impact positively on the social psyche of citizens to promote development.
