SUMMARY
Having come thus far in this study, it can be observed that racism has been a recurring factor in the American society. Racial bias has always been founded on the wrong notion of the superiority of the white race over other races. This notion was used as a justification for all the inhumane things that were and is still being done to blacks. It was felt that blacks were subhuman or are like animals who would think nothing of ill treatment. It was justification for the imposition of poverty by denying them means of livelihood so that they would be forever dependent on the whites like in a master-slave relationship. It is the reason for unlawful imprisonment of blacks; imprisonment based on incredibly false assumptions. It was the reason for the infliction of bodily harm on negroes and making laws to ensure the continued subjugation and segregation of black people from the whites especially between the 19th and 20th century.
