ABSTRACT

Racism, Oppression and other issues that comes with race in America and South Africa have been discussed using the plays of Lorraine Hansberry A Raisin' in the Sun, Bruce Norris Clybourne Park and Athol Fugard's Sizwe Bansi is dead. In this research work, just like it has earlier been stated in the introductory thesis statement, this work elucidates the issues that comes with racism, using relevant instances from the three plays. With the research carried out on Racism and oppression in America and South Africa, we see that racism has been in existence for a long time. We see also how it has settled and taken over the hearts of the white as a result of skin colour. Racism in the countries America and South Africa goes back in time, as it took it's root then in these countries. These countries are made up of mixed races of people both blacks and white. Though racism is not completely wiped out of existence in these countries today, it is a bit reduced as a lot of person's have come to realize that what actually matters is getting to know a person and not judging by the colour of their skin.
