ABSTRACT

Irobi portrays collective action as one of the strategies for actualising social justice in Nwokedi, and it can be related to the society at large. Change is possible if the people are ready for it, Irobi is optimistic about change which makes him provide some of the solutions to the social injustice in the society. Collective action can be done, not by a single figure but the general public need to stand with a collective voice of opposition, especially those who bear the negative effect of the corrupt activities of the leaders, and these are the masses. They are the most affected by the leaders' choices, and they occasionally express their annoyance in the play, which leads to the exposure and condemnation of these vices and resistance and revolution. In essence, Nwokedi provides a detailed representation of the effects of revolutionary transformations, emphasising the complexity and difficulties that come with changing existing power structures. The play serves as a reminder that while the removal of corrupt systems is vital, it's also crucial to make sure that what replaces them is better and not just a repetition of previous injustices. Irobi's portrayal of the Ekumeku shows the strong advantage of collective effort.
