ABSTRACT
This essay investigates how queer characters are perceived as subaltern others and the consequences of marginalization. The essay focuses on the challenges of being alienated as a queer character in Speak no Evil. The qualitative research method is used, relying on textual analysis to expose the message. For this study, the theory took an eclectic approach, drawing on queer theory and postcolonial subaltern theory. The findings show that gay characters are victims of both society and religion. It concludes that gay characters face societal estrangement, religious discrimination, and psychological alienation, as depicted in Uzodinma Iweala's Speak no Evil.
