ABSTRACT
Detarium microcarpum commonly known as sweet detar, sweet dattock or tallow tree, is an underutilized specie of tree legume that grows naturally in the drier regions of west and central Africa. In west and central Africa, Detarium microcarpum serves as both vital and industrial source as well as a medicinal herb. An overview of D. microcarpum verified its pharmacological qualities, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, phytochemicals, and medicinal properties. It is used in the treatment of diarrhea, meningitis, tuberculosis and hemorrhoids. In addition, the fruit and leaves of D. marcocarpum are edible and have been used by African tribes as a condiment vegetable. This study on the qualitative and quantitative phytochemical analysis of hydro methanol fraction and Petroleum ether Fraction of D. microcarpum was focused on its phytochemical composition and Comparison between the both Fractions using a Bar chart to represent them. Alkaloids, saponins, tannins, flavonoids, phenolic acids, cardiac glycosides, steroids and reducing sugars have been the major phytochemical constituents found in D. microcarpum. Understanding the phytochemical composition of this plants is crucial for exploring their potential health benefits.
