ABSTRACT
This study evaluated the mode of Interpersonal communication among University of Benin students. The researcher used the Social Information Processing theory and the Interaction Model of Communication for this work. The survey design was adopted for the study with the aid of a 10-item questionnaire administered to 369 respondents selected from the four departments in University of Benin Ekenwan Campus, this was aided by a stratified sampling technique. Findings show that a large amount of the students are familiar with the word Interpersonal communication and make they have knowledge about all of the modes of Interpersonal communication. The study also revealed that the students make use of face-to-face communication more often than other modes of Interpersonal communication and though they enjoy using social media, they prefer face-to-face communication. The study recommends that stakeholders should focus on using face-to-face mode to provide enlightening campaigns to the public, since it has been proven effective, and students should learn how to communicate in any of the means, as it makes them versatile and can handle any issue they may come across.
