ABSTRACT

The study is focused on Public perception of the use ofsocial media to enhance the Nigerian youths ‘soro soke'#EndSARS movement. The objectives of the study were to find out the perception and motivation of the Youths during the EndSARs protest. It aimed at ascertaining the impact of social media in the EndSARS protest and investigate how the term ‘Soro Soke’ enhanced the EndSARS protest. For its methodology, the survey research method was used to gather the data used for the study. Findings of the study reveals that the respondents got to know about the ENDSARS protest from Twitter and other social media platforms/ it also reveals that the extent to which people were mobilized to participate in the protest using social media was very high and that social media users have a positive attitude towards the use of coaxial media during the ENDSARS protest. Based on the findings, the researcher concluded that he use of social media and the Soro Soke movement was a political call to mobilize and draw insympathizers for the Endsars protes The researcher thereforerecommended among other things that government as a matterof deliberate state policy should pay priority attention to cateringto the needs of the people to avoid riot and civil unrest. Theresearcher also recommended that issues of police brutality andlawlessness must be checkmated to prevent future uprisings andmovements like the ‘Soro Soke’
