Abstract

The entire content of the study explores and exposes the properties of cement-laterite soilcretes. The laterite used for this study were sourced from Carpito in the University of Benin at a depth range of 0.5m to 1m and cement of grade 32.5N (Dangote brand) supplied by a major cement dealer in Benin, Edo State was used in the production of the cement-laterite soilcrete blocks.

Preparation of the lateritic samples as prescribed by the code of practice was done and several tests (sieve analysis, moisture content, density and specific gravity) were carried out on the lateritic sample.  While the soilcrete blocks produced were tested for strength (compressive strength test), water absorption test and durability test (abrasion test).

The presentation of this work is in five chapters as follows: Chapter one introduces the topic, presents the problem statements, project objectives, justification of study and describes the scope. Chapter two gives review of related literature. Materials and methods used are presented in chapter three as well as the experimental investigation. Chapter four contains research results and discussions based on results. Chapter five presents conclusion and recommendations.
