ABSTRACT

This study is aimed at collecting and obtaining well completion and reservoir information in order to prepare the required database for studying the decline rates of three wells located at fieldy and to calculate their declinerates.This work understudies three horizontal wells located in Niger Delta. The technique employed in our data analysis is the use of decline curve, which is based on the condition that the past performance factors will operate in the same way in the future. After proper well selection, the required data was acquired and inputted into the excel spreadsheet. With the help of the package, decline curve analysis was carried out with data filtering/smoothening and plotting, then followed by identification of the appropriate models using the outputted plots: exponential decline, harmonic decline and hyperbolic decline. Result was generated and analyzed from the decline rate. Where b and d are the empirical constants to be determined based on production data and q is the production rate expressed in stb/day or bbl/day or stb/month or stb/year; pending on what the unit of time is. At the end of the analytical study, putting all factors into consideration, it can be recommended that well 1, well 2 and well 3 production data follow harmonic, exponential and exponential decline model with a decline rates of 0.351/month,0.0539/month and 0.0454/monthrespectively.
