ABSTRACT

This research work is focus on the application of forensic science related finger print detection by the usage of agricultural waste know as date seed. Nano silica was produced by heating date seed ash at 600℃ using a concentration of 2.5N of NaOH. The fingerprint powder was produced using nanoparticles derived from date seeds and incorporated into two different dyes; methyl red and methyl blue and its adherence property, retention time and visibility was determined. The findings reveal that methyl red yields a superior appearance on the glass surfaces, whereas methyl blue demonstrates better performance on aluminum surface, the adherence property was similarly related to the commercial powder but the commercial powder has a longer retention time to the synthesized powder. In conclusion, the visibility of fingerprints is notably affected by factors like surface characteristics, the dye type, and the proportions used in the formulation. Silica nanopowder is a potential fingerprints powders.
