ABSTRACT

The global quest for sustainable and renewable energy sources has prompted extensive research into the development of biodiesel derived from microalgae. This study investigates the feasibility and environmental benefits of utilizing wastewater as a cultivation medium for microalgae, specifically focusing on the production of biodiesel. Wastewater, often considered a pollutant, can serve as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly nutrient source for algae growth, while simultaneously aiding in wastewater treatment. The findings indicate that wastewater-based microalgae cultivation offers several advantages, including reduced production costs and a more sustainable biodiesel feedstock compared to traditional methods. Additionally, this approach aligns with the circular economy concept by repurposing wastewater resources and contributing to a more efficient and environmentally responsible energy sector. Ultimately, this study underscores the potential of wastewater-based microalgae cultivation as a sustainable and economically viable pathway towards meeting the growing demand for renewable energy while simultaneously addressing wastewater management challenges.
