ABSTRACT
This study examined principals’ supervisory roles and effective management of school plants in secondary schools in egor local government area. The objectives of the study were to identify the principals’ supervisory role for the planning of school buildings in secondary schools in Egor local government area; find out principals’ supervisory role in the procurement of secondary school building materials in Egor local government area, and identify the effective methods of maintaining secondary school buildings in Egor local government area.
The research design used for this work was survey method. The researcher made use of frequency counts and tables to analyze the data collected. The findings from the study revealed that the achievement of principal relies on his administrative capacities and ability to make reasonable decision for effective administration. Biasness of some teachers and poor academic performance of students in secondary schools could be attributed partly to poor administrative skills of school principals. This is because the principal is the pioneer of hisschool and should be expected to perform certain expert and authoritative functions, bearing in mind that the end goal will be determined by adequate teaching environment which will in turn enhance effective teaching and learning.
