ABSTRACT
This study examined principal’s supervision effectiveness on teacher’s job performance in public secondary schools in Egor local government Area of Edo State. Specifically, this study examined the level of principals supervisory effectiveness in public secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area , If there is a significant relationship between gender, school location, qualification and principals supervision effectiveness in public secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area.
The study adopted survey research design. A sample sample of 39 respondents was used in this study, it comprises of 13 principals, 13, vice principal and 13 Fine Art teachers which males a total of 39 respondents. The research instrument that was used to elicit opinions was structured questionnaire. It was however subjected to face validity by the researcher’s supervisor.
The findings showed high level of principals supervisory effectiveness in public secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area. Based on the findings of the study, the Government should ensure that only qualified teachers with repository competencies and knowledge skills acquired in the course of academic learning as measured by teacher academic qualification or by way of in-service training are made principals of secondary school for enhanced supervision and government should organise training programmes for teachers as well as school administrators with greater emphasis on the need for supervision of instruction in the secondary school system.
