ABSTRACT
The incessant variation in cereal price between different markets has increasingly gained public concern as a result of the price differences, especially on the poor who spend a large share of their income on cereal. This research was undertaken to examine price variation in cereal between markets in Benin Metropolis of Edo State, Nigeria. To achieve this, the specific objectives were to describe the socio-economic characteristics of the cereal marketers, estimate price difference between markets in the study area and examine price variability of the food commodities. A two-stage sampling procedure was used to select 140 respondents from four markets for the study area. The data collected were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics.
