ABSTRACT

The study focused on prevalence of online gambling behaviour among students of university of Benin, Nigeria; to make this possible four research purpose were raised to determine the prevalence of gambling behavior among students in university of Benin, determine if age of undergraduate will influence gambling behavior, evaluate if financial difficulties can lead to gambling behavior among undergraduate and examine gender differences in gambling behavior among undergraduate

Descriptive survey research design which is a non-experimental method was adopted for the study. Simply random sampling technique was used to select one hundred and fifty (150) accessible respondents for the study. The instrument for data collection was questionnaire; it was a self-designed instrument, built around the research questions and was validated by the researcher's. The data collected for the research question was analyzed using simple percentage and mean.

The study concludes that the prevalence of gambling behavior among students in university of Benin is to a high extent and that financial difficulty a major cause of gambling behavior among undergraduate is to a high extent. the study further recommend that parents should offer proper guidance to their children and help them by walking hand in hand with them even if they are in campus and that Institutions should regulate internet working hours especially the learning institutions.
