ABSTRACT

Color vision deficiency is a condition wherein a person is unable to distinguish certain colors or shades of colors to some degree. Males are more frequently affected because it is a recessive trait linked to the X chromosome. Color-vision deficiency may be congenital (inherited) or acquired. Congenital or inherited color defects are non-pathologic, incurable, and constant throughout life. Acquired color defects are usually a result of degenerative diseases, toxic effect of drugs, trauma, and aging. A commercial driver is someone who has been trained and certified to drive a commercial vehicle professionally. The study was carried out within a period of two months. With a population of 100 commercial drivers in Benin metropolis. Ishihara color plate test was used for this experiment.
