  ABSTRACT

Aspergillus species associated with groundnut were investigated. The groundnut samples were collected from two different markets, Oba market (sample A) and Lagos Street (sample B), Benin City. The samples were weighed, dissolved, grinded and cultured on Potato dextrose agar (PDA).Aspergillus species that grew were identified and characterized.Heterotrophic counts showed more Aspergillus growth on sample A than sample B.The Aspergillus species that was identified include: Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus candidus, and Aspergillus oryzae.
