ABSTRACT
This research investigated the predisposing factors affecting spousal support for family planning among ikpoba staff local government area of Edo state. The purpose of this study was to find out the predisposing factors affecting spousal support for family planning among staff of Ikpoba Okha LGA,Determine whether staff of Ikpoba Okha LGA have knowledge of family planning and to Determine the attitdes of staff of Ikpoba Okha LGA towards spousal support for family planning.
A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. Ikpoba staff was used for the study which consisted of 156 ikpoba staff. The sampling techniques used for the study was total enumeration sampling Technique. A questionnaire was designed and titled predisposing factors affecting spousal support for family planning among ikpoba staff local government area of Edo state.
A total of 100 copies of questionnaire were administered and 100 copies were duly completed, returned and found useable for this study. The instrument was subjected to face validation by the supervisor.
Analyses and discussions of data collected for this study were descriptively done using frequency count and percentage. The findings of the study shows the The knowledge of family planning among ikpoba staff was to a high extent and the attitude of family planning among ikpoba staff is high extent. Recommendations was made that the awareness and campaign of the importance of family planning Service in hospital should be made effective without further delay.
More community involvement and the creation of dialogue around family planning Service should be encouraged. It is also found necessary to change the mindset of the people. Everyone should be open to discussion about the importance of family planning Service to marriage and help the spouse to understand the importance of family planning Service on child birth and spacing is. So, for that more education on family planning has to be taught to every spouse. It is also important to form a policy on family planning Service and the right attitude towards it
Passage of this act would help increase awareness of the potential benefits of family planning Service. All spouse would be better equipped to make informed decisions about child birth and spacing.
