ABSTRACT
The aim of this study is to develop a regression model for evaluating the performance of safety in the oil industry in Nigeria. For the purpose of this study, four multinational corporations were selected namely Shell, Integrated Data Services Limited (IDSL), Bureau of Geophysical Prospecting (BGP) and Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC). Questionnaire was used to elicit response from oil workers in the said companies. Matlab was used for the regression model for the performance of safety. The result shows that Shell performed better than the other oil companies in terms of overall performance. A website was also developed for reporting the performance of the companies as it relates to safety. This work titled Predicting Safety Management Systems in Selected Oil Companies in Nigeria using Computer Application and Mathematical Models will be of immense importance to the relevant stakeholders concerned with monitoring of safety in oil and gas industry in Nigeria.
