ABSTRACT
The importance of applying Geographic Information System to water distribution cannot be overemphasized. This study applies GIS to tackling water distribution problems at Isior, Benin City, Edo State this location is known for its short supply due to groundwater depth, knowing the potential locations for groundwater with easier access will help generate a sufficient water distribution system. The application of GIS into solving this problem will yield detailed maps that contain data including potential groundwater zones, elevation, borehole location. From the topographical survey a general layout plan was generated along with the contour map, Triangulation Irregular Network (TIN) Map as well as a groundwater potential zone map from borehole data set. ArcGis10.1, AutoCAD were used to produce these maps. This information will therefore aid in future plans to produce a water distribution system for the area.
