ABSTRACT
Post-war reconstruction in Liberia, are the actions, efforts of the governments both internal an external in the rebuilding, restoring and recovering from the major conflict in Liberia. It commenced after the “14 years war”, which categorized two civil wars within the Western African nation of Liberia. The Liberian civil war was one of Africa’s bloodiest wars. It was characterized by a fight for indigenous rule against the Americo-Liberians, the rule of Samuel Doe’s regime constituting totalitarianism and the withdrawal of support from the United States, the formation of rebel groups (NPFL, INPFL ULIMO) and Ethnic tension as a result of the Charles Taylor who led the National Patriotic Front of Liberia. From 1989 to 1996 (first Civil war), it claimed the lives of more than 200,000 Liberians and further displaced a million others into refugee camps in neighboring countries.
