ABSTRACT
This dissertation extensively looked at the Post proberbuim found in Yoruba language.Lawal (1997) in a science direct journal, wrote an article titled "Pragmatic study of selected pair of Yoruba Proverbs". In this research, Lawal viewed proverbs as a "quintessence of a people's collective wisdom sustained and transmitted from generation to generation".Ehineni (2019) in Journal titled "Issues in intercultural communication" wrote an article titled "The pragmatics of Yoruba proverbs in Ahmed Yerima's Igatibi, Ajagunmale and Mojagbe." Ehineni in his researchexamines the pragmatics of Yorùbá proverbs in Ahmed Yerima’s plays, Igatibi, Ajagunmale, and Mojagbe. This research although not new to scientific research since many scholars have delved into the analysis of proverbs, its usage and meanings.
