ABSTRACT
This study aims at accessing population growth and its impact on transportation facilities in Benin city, Edo state. The use of questionnaire was employed and 400 questionnaires were designed, printed and administered across the various Local Government of study. The results obtained from the shared questionnaires were analysed using SPSS version 27. The data were presented in Tables. The stated hypothesis was tested using the Regression Analytical Technique, and the result obtained showed a weak but significant relationship, between transportation facilities and the peoples travel behaviour. The results also showed that there varying impacts of high population on transportation facilities. The study therefore recommends that population increase can be curbed, through the promotion of effective family planning on an individual level, alongside government-led awareness crusades and strategies on population control. It also emphasizes on fostering a wide-ranging urban planning programmes to prioritize efficient land usage and transportation systems, thereby mitigating issues of traffic congestion, bad road maintenance and improper usage of public transportation facilities.
