ABSTRACT

The experiment was carried out to evaluate the association of health status and mortality with toll-like receptor 4 gene polymorphism and gene expression in different rabbit breeds. The study was carried out at the Rabbit unit of the Farm Project, University of Benin, Benin-City. A total of forty adult (5 months old) rabbits of four different genetic groups consisting of 10 Chinchilla, 10 New Zealand black (NZB), 10 Hyla and 10 Dutch (BUT) were used for this study. Blood samples were collected from Chinchilla Male parent, Fl generation crossbred (CH x NZB) Male, Hyla female parent, Fl Hyla Male, Fl Dutch Male, and New Zealand black Male parent. The result of the study is still in progress.
