ABSTRACT
The concepts of probiotics probably dates back to1908, when Nobel Prize winner Eli Metchnikoff suggested that the long life of Bulgarian peasants resulted from their consumption of fermented milk products. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) probiotics are defined as “live microorganisms, which when administered in adequate amounts, confers a health benefit on the host”. Adhesion in probiotics refers to the ability of beneficial bacteria to attach and adhere to the surfaces of the host's cells, particularly in the gastrointestinal tract while desorption is the physical process where adsorbed molecules are released from a surface into the surrounding fluid. The objective of this study is to quantify the amount of desorbed of L.reuteri, L.gasseri and L.rhamnosus using PEG300 and the optimal conc of PEG300 that released more of the Lactobacillus spp.
