ABSTRACT

The main focus of this seminar is to examine the forms of Political Corruption and Psycho-Social disorder using The Beautiful Ones Are Not Yet Born by Ayi Kwei Armah and viii Arrow of Rain by Okey Ndibe as a case study, and also carry out a comparative Analysis and the literary devices used in both texts. However, this study uses the quantitative research methodology of textual analysis of the novels. Data was obtained from the aforementioned text and other secondary materials. It adopts the social realism study as it aims to depict real-life occurrences in society. This is to enhance the reader's understanding of the possible forms of corruption and the psycho-social effect it has on Individuals. This research is divided into five chapters. Chapter one is the introduction, here we looked at the purpose of the study, scope of study, Background of study/authors works, Theoretical Background, Review of scholarship. Chapter two begins the textual analysis of the novel Arrow of Rain by Okey Ndibe. Chapter three is the textual analysis of The Beautyful Ones Are Not Yet Born by Ayi Kwei Armah. Chapter four is the Comparative Analysis of the novel and the literary devices used in the novels. Chapter five is the conclusion. Overall this study aims to investigate the manifestation and the underlying factors of Political Corruption and the Psycho-Social Disorder in the aforementioned texts and to also examine the literary devices present in both texts. These devices form a literary aesthetic that helps readers to fully delve into the mind of the reader.
