ABSTRACT
The study investigated the impact of Point-of-sale services (POS) on small and medium scale enterprise in Oredo LGA, Edo State, Nigeria. The specific objectives were to analyze the factors that influences the adoption and utilization of point-of-sale services among small and medium scale enterprises in Nigeria, to evaluate the impact of point-of-sale service on the financial performance and customer satisfaction of small and medium scale enterprises in Nigeria and to identify the benefits and challenges of using point of sale service in small and medium scale enterprises in Nigeria. The study adopted a survey research design. A total of one hundred (100) constituted the sample size of the study. Data was generated through a well-structured questionnaire administration. Questionnaire successfully retrieved were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The study found that POS adoption has a positive impact on business efficiency, but there are still some SMEs that are skeptical about its benefits. Additionally, POS has a significant positive impact on financial performance by improving the speed and efficiency of financial transactions and increasing business revenue and profit furthermore POS adoption offers a number of notable benefits, including increased accuracy in recording sales and inventory management, reduced risk associated with cash handling, and greater convenience for customers. The study recommended that SMEs should prioritize training and education programs for their staff to enhance technical expertise in operating POS systems, engage in marketing and awareness campaigns to educate their customers about the benefits of using POS for transactions and also focus on improving the overall customer experience when using POS systems.
