ABSTRACT
The present study investigates the Pluralization Strategies in Asaba Dialect of Igbo Language. Pluralization strategy is under the term ‘Word Formation Processes’ which is under Morphology. The focus of this study is to look into the nature of Pluralization in Asaba dialect, in order to know how they function and how they are marked in the language of study. Hence, this study relied on primary and secondary data. The primary data were in form of oral data which were collected from twenty (20) native speakers of the language with questions using the Ibadan 400 word list. The informants are within the age range of 30-40 years, consisting of ten males and ten females. Their responses were written down with paper and biro. The secondary data comprises forms from already published works such as journals, online and textbooks. The data will be presented and analyzed qualitatively. The research holds unto no theoretical framework, because it is a descriptive study of pluralization strategies in Asaba dialect.
In conclusion, we discovered that there are various ways plurals are realized in Asaba dialect of Igbo.
