ABSTRACT

This study examined Plato's idea of "philosopher king" and The Nigeria leadership crisis: A critical evaluation . It is aim at looking at the present predicament of Nigeria leadership in the light of Plato's idea of a "philosopher King". Nigeria is in need of good leadership, Nigeria leadership qualities is poor , Nigeria since independence has suffered lack of competent leaders and their is need for competent leaders who would bring about progress and development which is the desire of every country ,  And Plato believes that the only people who have the ability to lead are philosopher kings , according to Plato "Until philosophers ruler as kings or those who are now called kings and leading men genuinely and adequately philosophize ,that is, until political power and Philosophy entirely coincide ..... cities will have no rest from evil... thee can be no happiness, either public or private, in any other city". There is no doubt that Nigeria problem is Lack of good leadership , Today in Nigeria almost every aspect of our life_ government , industry, education, church e. t. c. has come to be the central of the country's problem all these are all caused by lack of good leaders.This study therefore attempt to explore the Nigeria leadership crisis in the light of Plato's idea of the" philosopher king" and to inform on the way forward as regards the political situation of the country Nigeria.
