ABSTRACT This project work is about the phonological study of Akure dialect of Yoruba language. That is, distinctive sounds present in the dialect that makes it different from Yoruba language. In order to achieve this goal of an adequate descriptive analysis of this phenomenon, appropriate description approaches were employed. The work is divided into the following chapters for appropriate study. In chapter one, the work entails the background of study which contains introduction, definition of language?, and definition of the dialect of a language. It also contains the location of the language and the speakers, methodology, theoretical framework, purpose of study and significance of study. Chapter two focuses on literature review of this research work and the chapter proceeds in examining some previous works that have been carried out in relation to this present study. Chapter three which is the major focus of the study presents the data collected and analyses the nature of the data. Chapter four presents the focus on summary of the work done and recommendation. This is followed by the references and appendix sections respectively.
