ABSTRACT

Phenotypic Detection of Bacterial Virulence in Fecal Samples of Anemic Layers

This study outlines a methodological approach for the phenotypic detection of bacterial virulence factors in fecal samples obtained from anemic layer chickens. Fresh fecal samples were collected, homogenized, and processed to obtain a liquid fraction suitable for bacterial culturing. Selective and differential agar plates, including Eosin Methylene Blue agar and blood agar, were employed to isolate potential pathogens. Phenotypic analyses focused on colony morphology, hemolysin production, and other toxin-related indicators.  Antibiotic susceptibility profiles of isolated bacteria were also determined, the emphasis was on phenotypic characterization. This approach aids in understanding the role of bacteria in anemic conditions observed in layers, providing insights for improved poultry health management.
