ABSTRACT

This study elaborates on the performance analysis of valve regulated lead acid deep cycle battery. The modified model of the deep cycle battery can save battery capacity up to ten times its normal battery performance. Based on this modified system, consumers or users of valve regulated lead acid battery especially the GEL (Silica) type will be able to utilize this system more efficiently.

The benefit of this study can be applied in off grid energy storage system for solar power or wind power, in traffic signals, in uninterrupted power supply (UPS) for computers and other related equipment. It can also be used in audio equipment.

The problem currently faced by deep cycle users are improper depth of discharge and poor state of charge. Other problems are not knowing the battery’s life before degradation and its charging capacity.

The methodology used to design the system is analyzing the circuit model of a valve regulated lead acid deep cycle battery by using a testing device for calculating its depth of discharge  and state of charge. The results or values gotten from our test data will be computed graphically using Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.

A testing device was used to analyze the valve regulated lead acid battery circuit model for its depth of discharge, state of charge and the battery capacity. The results were computed graphically.
