ABSTRACT
Healthy living has been known to be linked to availability of portable water supply, clean sanitation, access to good hygienic and attainment of nice healthy status. Hence, the objective of this study is to evaluate the assess level of water supply sanitation, hygiene and health status of residents of Evbuotubu community, Edo State using a structured questionnaire from 150 respondents analyzed with Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), version .It is evident from the data obtained that the source of water in the resident community was borehole (73.3%) which is cited on the resident premises (65.3%) and majority (100%) agreed that water from main source was not currently available 72% of the respondents stated that the water was used for washing and cooking, not for drinking, only a minority of 16.67% agreed that they boil the water before use, 72% indicated that the water from source has taste, majority (72%) stated that the water from source has visible impurities. The results of health status of respondents revealed that 43.3% have experienced Typhoid fever, 69.3% stated that they have experienced diarrhoea and 65.3% stated that they have experienced Dysentery, within the last six months. The results of this study revealed that the resident of Evbuotubu community are not free from environmental problems, In conclusion, a community-based intervention program needs to be carried out to educate the populace of Evbuotubu community residence on maintenance of hand washing practices, toilets and sanitary facilities.
