ABSTRACT
The study is focused on the perception of shine your eyes Big Brother Nigeria reality show among the undergraduates of the University of Benin. The objectives of the study were to determine the extent of exposure of Uniben undergraduates to Shine your eyes Big Brother Naija reality show. It aimed at evaluating how undergraduates of Uniben perceive the Shine your eyes Big Brother Naija reality show, the extent to which the Shine your eyes Big Brother Naija reality show appeals to Uniben undergraduates, the influence Shine your eyes Big Brother Naija reality show has on Uniben undergraduates perception of reality and the attitude of Uniben undergraduates towards Shine your eyes Big Brother Naija reality show. For its methodology, the survey research method was used to gather the data used for the study. Findings of the study revealed that exposure to Shine your eyes Big Brother Naija reality show influences the perception of Uniben undergraduates and the extent at which exposure to the show influences Uniben undergraduates is high. The findings also indicated that the attitude of Uniben undergraduates towards Shine your eyes Big Brother Naija reality show is positive. Based on the findings, the researcher concluded that Shine your eyes Big Brother Naija reality show influences Uniben undergraduates perception of reality and by extension influences youths in the society. The researcher therefore, recommended among other things that policies makers should see it as urgent to regulate and monitor television contents especially reality shows as it affects and influences undergraduates perception of reality. The researcher also recommended that negative and dysfunctional aspects of the show such as sexual scenes, cheating, violence and other immoralities should be removed or drastically reduced by the organizers/ producers of the show by enacting new rules.
