ABSTRACT
The study determined the perception of male and female education students towards taking Biology as a course of study in University of Benin, Benin city. The research questions were reviewed and answered. The literature related to this study was reviewed under the following topics. Which are: Importance of Biology, concepts of Biology, Relevance of Teachers in the society, Gender Issues, factors influencing student perception of the course(Biology), Impact of self perception, Attitude and self Efficiency on taking a course of study and Summary. The research design is a survey research. The population of the study was 420 students. The sample was 100 Biology Education students. The instrument used was questionnaire. The instrument was validated by Mr. Osemwengie Stephen and Mr. Abdulbaki Usman. Data were collected using the instrument. Data was analyzed using a straightforward or calculated percentage. Finally, Female Education students have positive perception towards taking Biology as a course of study than Male students and there is a significant difference between the perception of male and female Education students towards taking Biology as a course of study.
