Summary

This study was aimed at finding out the perception of Benin City residents towards female models in advertising message in Nigeria using Benin City as a case study. This study reviewed works of several authors.

To guide the study, four research questions were raised which are outlined thus:

  1. What is the perception of Benin City residents toward role play by female models in advertising messages?
  2. What are Benin City residents’ perception of female models in advertising messages?
  3. What are Benin City residents’ perception on the various stereotypical portrayals of female model in advertisements.
  4. what is the effectiveness of these advertisements in the sale of products and services?
