ABSTRACT
The aim of this study is to assess the acceptance and perception of chemotherapy amongst cancer patients in University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin City, Edo State. The study adopted the survey research design and simple random sampling technique was used to select Two hundred and seventy (270) cancer patients in University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin City, Edo State A well-structured questionnaire was used as instruments of data collection. Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were used to analyse the dataset. The analysis was conducted using the IBM Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26.0 for windows. The level of significance was set at p<0.05. The result from the study shows that majority of the respondents had fair knowledge and positive perception of chemotherapy. The study therefore recommends that government and multinational agencies should make concerted efforts to reduce the cost of cancer therapy for cancer patients to allow for more level of acceptance of this therapy.
